Today I was in the mood for trying another distribution. So Linux Mint gets a chance of proving itself. The installation went fine, but after the installation there was no sound. This was easily solved by adding the next line to alsa-base.
options snd-hda-intel index=0 model=toshiba position_fix=1
To edit the right file, type:
sudo nano /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base
Since Linux Mint is a fork of Ubuntu 8.10, this problem will probably also occur in Ubuntu and the solution above will do the job.by
